Every summer, when the last thing on most peoples’ minds is snow, Caterpillar packs up some of its machines, booth materials, and a bunch of hats to give away, and then heads off to the Snow and Ice Symposium & Trade Show hosted by the Snow and Ice Management Association (SIMA).
At this year’s Symposium, SIMA, Caterpillar and Snow Business magazine announced the 2013 winner of the Caterpillar-sponsored Greatest Story Never Told contest. Each winter, contestants are encouraged to share stories about operation challenges and how they overcame those challenges. Finalists are determined by the Snow Business editorial staff and contacted for further detail. It’s my pleasure to share with winning story about an Army Ranger who found a way to run his Iowa snow removal business all the way from Afghanistan.
