Re: C18 Auxiliary seawater pump failures

Sorry, I should have qualified my original post. The pump failures are the raw water pumps. The circ oumps are not giving us problems.

Re: C18 Auxiliary seawater pump failures

Hi, you need to replace by  4406388, this new pump doesn´t have problems. The other option is 20R3246 or 20R2063(UTN)

Re: C18 Auxiliary seawater pump failures

why not swap to a Jabsco design pump(rubber impeller).

If you dont have a big suction head I would go that way.

much cheaper in maintance aswell.

It will require a few pipes to be changed.

C18 Auxiliary seawater pump failures

I have a vessel operating with 2 x C18 670 HP engines. In the past 12 months, we have had 4 pump failures that have been replaced each time. The first was a broken pump shaft, the next 2 were a failure of the valve ball and the last one has not indication as the dealer has not responed with a reason. This is costing us dearly in downtime and we are at a point of looking to rip them out and replace them with something more reliable (not painted yellow). Has anyone else experienced this problem. The original pump part number is 391-2227. These have then all been changed with reman pumps, part # 20R1686.
