Re: M32 & M43 Engines Running on Low Sulphur Fuel

Dear Sir,

Our current engine types can be operated with any kind of low sulphur fuel. Depending on the kind of fuel you have to decide if you change your lub. oil quality to a lower TBN number. Please check your engine manual. The important figure of light fuel is the lubricity. This must not be lower than 1.5 cSt according to the latest CIMAC specification. When purchasing low viscosity fuel you can ask for HFFR lubricity test.

Kind regards

M32 & M43 Engines Running on Low Sulphur Fuel

Hi,

We have 8 M43's and 2 M32's in our fleet running on IFO 380 and IFO 40. Due to the change in MARPOL regulations due in 2015, we will need to start to operate them on Low Sulphur Gas Oil, with sulphur limit of 0.1%. Does anyone have any experience of operating engines on low sulphur fuel, it's long term effects and any precautions to be taken?
