Re: Fuel leaking into crankcase

Thanks for the feedback. I'll see if I can find the weep hole and make sure that it is open.

Re: Fuel leaking into crankcase

You are probably on the right track by rebuilding the fuel transfer pump. The pump has a "weep"  or "tattle tale" hole betwwen the two seals inside that is supposed to deal with this issue. However, this drain hole often becomes plugged with dirt when the problem first starts. You will need to unplug this hole during your rebuild.

There are other places for fuel to contaminate engine oil, each pumping element of the fuel injection pump has a metal to metal seat inside the fuel injection pump, but problems with these are rare.

Fuel leaking into crankcase

I have a d4 model 7u that is leaking fuel into the crankcase. If I don't shut off the petcock on the tank it will fill the crankcase with diesel. I'm rebuilding the primary fuel pump now as it has worn seals and shaft. Does any one know if there is any other place the fuel could leak into the crankcase?
