Re: G3616 100K Overhauling

Dear  James ,

I  understand  that  , recently   One  Indian  Dealer  has  been carried out  the  100K  hrs  Overhauling  for  G3612  Engine , for  one  of  the  customer.   The  activities  would  be  almost  same  for G3616  Engine.

If  you  are  in  the  same  region ,  then  may  that  dealer  would  help  you.

Re: G3616 100K Overhauling

Kind of a hard call to make with the info provided.  SInce it has 100k hours, it has likely had a couple top ends, what was base engine condition during those services.

You'll likely need to figure at least main and rod bearings (and rod bolts), cam bearing, front and rear gear train bearings and possibly cylinder liners.

The amount of engine machining, such as crank polishing or resurfacing, main bearing line bore, and head deck surfaces will all depend on how the engine has been treated in those 100k hours. Extending valve lash adjustments can cause possible excessive wear to valve train components and GAV's.

The CAT guidelines are just that, guidelines based on what they expect you'll need at 100k hours, or the equivilent amount fuel burned.  Frankly about 2-3 months before you want to do an overhaul you really need an experienced engine person to evaluate the condition of the engine, it's previous service history and get your parts and support ordered before hand, air frieghting cylinder liners can be VERY expensive, and they may not be in stock.  Same with manpower, who's going to do the work, and what are your contingency plans if you find something wrong unexpectedly, unless you can afford to be down for a couple of months?

Also based on the serial number provided, there may be some parts like actuators and wiring that are likely no longer serviced, and may require retrofit.  And be VERY aware of the engine wiring, on that engine care needs to be taken to assure it is gently handled coming off and going back on to assure you won't have any issues at restart.

Local dealer and you should consult both the O & M manual and application manual for each of your considerations.  Find your local dealer and get the documentation and set up your intervals based on your operation and application needs.
