Thanks for that!

Re: Oil Change

We have a stationary gen set that has the starter pull in when 1 psi is generated by the prelude pump. Is there a procedure that would help us out?

you should always run your prelube pump for a min of 15min after a oil change with filters, very important!  you have a oil prelube system?  this may of prevented this.  Does your mechanical gauge have a low oil pressure switch?  some genset have two means of oil sensing like my CAT 3516 landfill gas unit, mechanical gauge which will not shut the unit dwn, and electronic pressure sensor that is tied into the genset ECM will intiate a low oil psi shutdwn

Re: Oil Change

We were looking at the mechanical gauges. The question that came up was if prefilling the filters caused a low pressure situation.

Re: Oil Change

how are you looking at the oil pressure? CAT ET, DDT, or the mechanical gauges?

Oil Change

We recently did an oil change on a Cat 3512 generator. We filled the filters when changing the oil. When we started the generator the pressure gauge showed proper pressure but the generator failed to start because of low oil pressure. Any ideas why?
