I don't believe this question pertain to the SOS Oil Analysis? Can you please clarify your reference to the 2/3 winding pitch.  Thanks.

The winding pitch question is better asked in the power generation forum.

Can anyone tell me where I get the sterile containers so I can get an oil sample from my C-15 engine (for an SOS Analysis by CAT)? My service work is not done by a CAT dealer BTW.

Your local Cat dealer can supply a sterile oil sample bottle and tube...can also sell you the small hand suction pump to take the sample.  In most cases the cost of the oil sample bottle includes the SOS analysis...but you should confirm this.

We have a few facilities running the G3616.  Upon a recent oil analysis, we had two units with concerns.  One unit with high level of copper and the other with high lead level.  I suspect a coolant issue with the increased copper, but our packager seems to be stumped on the cause of both copper and lead.  Can anybody point me in the right direction?  I want to avoid costly repairs while they sit and think.

I'm trying to track down some oil samples.  I have not been able to talk to anyone that can help me with this.  I received a bunch of numbers from the local CAT store but I'm having no luck.  Is there a contact that I can get in touch with to help me track down my samples?  Thanks!

We have a 05 C15 Cat truck engine . The lab test offered nothing. Our problem is black radiator fluid. The truck has no power loss. Sample of radiator fluid at shop is clear after setting for hours with black sediment at bottom of bottle. When bottle is moved turns black again (black like black ink). Removed Radiator hoses and have solid deposits of black material.

In the case of oil tests once per month on engines used for waste to energy (in a landfill), what tests are available to determine sulfurs and siloxanes?

Recently drained the 3412 that had CAT ELC and refilled it with Nav Guard 50/50. Is there any compatibility issues we should be aware of? The ELC was red and the new Nav Guard is green.

We changed my customer's oil on his boat. Now he wants an oil analysis. How long should the engines be run before taking a sample?

I have a C7 engine.  fuel is getting into the oil pan.  My local Cat dealer replaced the fuel supply pump.  Oil level is still rising.  Could fuel be entering oil through injectors?  Dealer says no.  Cylinder head? No oil is entering fuel.   C7 has WAX serial number.  Engine has 252,000 plus miles on it.  Up 'till now engine has been trouble free, still runs great.  any ideas?  Thanks

Where can I get the guidelines for oil analysis for the C 15 Engine? I need the limits for wear metal, viscosity @ 100c, fuel dilution, ppm of water, and Base number.

I have a fleet of trucks with several 3406E 550hp engines.  Im thinking of installing 2 micron bypass oil filters.  Will the low micron rating affect my oil sample results?  Maybe the wear metal levels will be falsely lower even though there might be an internal problem.  I can also use a 5 micron element instead of the 2 micron.

I have had two SOS reports on my Marine C18 come back with elivated copper levels.  Not on the SOS mentioned this may be due to the heat exchanger and to monitor on the next sample.  Can you be more specific.  Is this the main engine heat exchanger or the hydrolic or tansmision heat exchanger?  Alos what would be causing this and if it continues, what is the fix?
