Re: C9 Marine engine issue

Yes Caterpillar had an issue with the high pressure pumps.

they launched a revised model and covered it under warranty for a certain time.

this period has ended.

did you pump fail?

if your pump didnt fail, you can get away with only changing the pump.

if you pump failed then it will be pump + injectors.

in that case make sure that the technician is cleaning the oil rail.

cause lazy techs usually dont clean it and then you new injectors are gone again.

C9 Marine engine issue

I'd like to share my very disappointing experience with my C9 engine, bought as new less tha 4 years ago, always used and preserved with highest maintainance standards and properly used.

The boat reseller just informed me that I have to change the high pressure pump and n.6 injectors because a CAT (known??) issue characterized by the rolling element bearings. The warrenty seems not to cover this.

Anyone with similar experience. I do also hope someone from CAT would comment and support me in this disappointing experience.
