This part number is the hydrax switch, which is a necessary component in the control system. It is not the switch that Cat recommends removing from the system. The new part number 459-2591 switch should not be failing; it has shown to be a stronger part than the former 140-9669. And the other answer is correct. Do not install a jumper instead of the switch for continuous operation. Using a jumper should only be done during troubleshooting to determine if the switch is good or bad.
What is the hydrax pressure relief set to? The hydrax pressure should be 225 psi and steady showing on the gauge. If the needle is not steady, this could indicate a problem with the hydrax pump, causing pressure surges. This could affect the hydrax pressure sensor.
What is the condition of the hydrax oil; what color is it? If it is dark and unclear instead of clear and clean looking, this could indicate that the hydrax pump seal is bad and leaking engine oil into the hydrax system. This kind of contamination can cause hydrax system issues.
