Re: Why do people want to go back to work into coal mines?

Also, yes it is safer - as all modern mining operations are, and yes, the pay is quite reasonable for those qualified to work in the industry.

Re: Why do people want to go back to work into coal mines?

Sorry, I couldn't fully read your question, but I think that you were asking why not Solar power and Wind Power, both of which are great alternatives for a moderate amount of power.  These technologies simply are not YET able to scale to meet current and future demand.  To make either of these work, we would need adequate battery "flex" power, similar to Teslas' Australian battery install.  This is great, but then places additional demand on Lithium and other mineable minerals.

Also, and this is important, not all coal mined is for electrical generation.  Much coal is used to produce steel.  In fact, steel CANNOT be produced without quality Metallurgical coal, often mined in open-pit environments and shipped around the world via rail and ocean liner.

Is it safer now? Why not demand some alternative investment of energy production that could provide jobs, like solar plants in West Virginia?
