The oil pressure sensor signal may have drifted outside acceptable limits when engine is stopped but is within acceptable limits when engine is running. Suggest replacing sensor

This may be a simple fix but I’m new the caterpillar world(former Kohler tech) so bear with me.

I have a 3406c genset with an emcpII+ controller. The unit works correctly everytime we need it, but when the unit is in “Auto” and not running it flashes “fault alarm” and “diag” and generates a “cid100 fmi 2” alarm code. I just started at the plant where the generator is installed and the previous tech stated it has been doing this since he can remember. My impression is that the controller is incorrectly looking for an oil pressure reading even though the engine isn’t running. Any suggestions where to start? As soon as the unit starts the alarm clears and the unit operates correctly. Thanks for the support!
